Some health web sites offer users a service of keeping track of prescriptions and other medical information online but a news release today revealed that there have been allegations that some of these sites shared personal information collected from consumers with other companies without proper warnings to the consumer.
Sites under investigation by the FTC are 'iVillage.com' and 'HealthCentral.com'. Additionally the FTC has contacted 'Doubleclick.com' about sharing information without consumer permission.
Another site, 'DrKoop.com' has been
sited as possibly sharing information but the FTC has not contacted them
as yet.
