Viagra doesn't help men who can't get erections (like diabetics) but 'new study' wants to mislead the public!

Pfizer, the marketer of Viagra, has said from the beginning that Viagra will not be effective for impotence caused by diabetes (a common side effect).

However, Reuters Health News recently reported the results of a new study on Viagra and diabetes. Read the following carefully:

"SAN DIEGO, Jun 18 (Reuters Health) -- Viagra appears to be
safe and well tolerated by men with diabetes, and is
especially helpful in men who have few diabetic
complications, a study suggests"

The last paragraph is a quote from Dr. Stanley Korenman,(the researcher) of the University of California at Los Angeles who states:

"This is another motivation for men with diabetes to
really work at their control...But I would try Viagra as the first line of
treatment in any diabetic with erectile dysfunction. "

Sounds like suddenly Viagra began working for diabetics and if you just read the first paragraph and the last line, you might just run out and buy it.

From the middle of the article, we read:

"Compared with published data for men in the general
population who required 100 milligrams of the drug,
"diabetics didn't do quite as well, whether we studied
achieving erections or maintaining erections," said Dr.
Stanley Korenman, of the University of California at Los
Angeles in an interview with Reuters Health. "However,
diabetics were as satisfied with the results of treatment
as the general population." Erectile dysfunction is a
common problem in diabetics. "

In case you missed it, nothing has changed from the Pfizer studies which showed that Viagra doesn't work for most men with diabetes. But says the doctor, diabetes were 'as satisfied with the results as...' Can we say 'doublespeak'? What's this in English? Simply that diabetics in the early stages of the disorder who didn't really have a bad problem could use Viagra but of course, they can have sex without Viagra also.

To summarize: All the study tells us is:

  1. Viagra is reasonably safe for younger men with diabetes.

  2. If they still can have sex, Viagra might heighten things a bit. (of course, men whom Viagra can help, really don't need the drug - all Viagra does is SUSTAIN an erection and if a man doesn't GET an erection, it's obvious that Viagra cannot sustain what a man doesn't get in the first place).

Let me ask this - do you think that if a man got Viagra (which sells for a pricey ten bucks a pill) and it didn't work, do you think his male pride would allow him to reveal this beyond the closed doors of his bedroom? No bets.

The marketers behind the article are figuring on two things:

You have to give them credit - smart folks these marketers.

The study said nothing we don't know but unfortunately, how many diabetics will read parts of it and think they now will be helped by the drug.

Let the buyer beware!
